See Saturn at Maesbury!

Saturn will be doing a horse-boat run at the Maesbury Festival at 11 o'clock on Sunday, 5th September and will be navigating the newly opened section, from Gronwyn Bridge to Redwith Bridge, which to date hasn't been boated.

September 2011 date announced for Retford Gathering - Stret Lock anyone?

There will be an historic boat gathering in Retford on 10/11 September 2011, to coincide with National Heritage Days.  The Trust's trip boat, Seth Ellis, will be running public trips on both days, giving visitors a chance to view boats from the water.  The area above Town Lock, Retford, is wide and deep, so motors and butties will be able to breast up and, as there are twin towpaths, boats can moor both sides of the canal. New date for IWA National Festival 2011

The Inland Waterways Association has announced that Burton upon Trent, in the Midlands, is to host the 2011 National Festival & Boat Show over the weekend of 29–31 July 2011 on Shobnall Fields. This new date is a change from the usual August bank holiday.  More details on IWA website.

Gravel run from Paddington to Atherstone, July 2010

Seven boats set off on Tuesday, 6 July, from Paddington Basin after being loaded with up to 130 tons of gravel. The destination was Atherstone at the weekend.

Tom Rolt Centenary Celebrations - 2010

2010 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tom Rolt – there will be commemorative cruises and events throughout the year, from February to November. The IWA has a full list of events on its website.
